Alex Does Chicago!

Alex's latest adventure finds her painting the town red in Chicago. Of course along the way she spotted some great 10 Strawberry dinnerware! With a show like NRA hosting such big giants in the tabletop industry, it's a great feeling to see so much 10 Strawberry in the local restaurants around the area. Tons of Izabel Lam, the Morning Tide and Ripple collections look fantastic! The Whittier collection definitely gets a lot of love in Chicago as well. It feels like every time we check in with our favorite road warrior she's taking a victory lap and we love it!

If it wasn't official before, it is now... the Whittier Collection is a hit! If you were able to make it out to NRA you've seen these bad boys in person. The idea of a bowl is simple, but it's the execution that means everything. This time around our Boat Bowls are delivered with a fantastic wave texture. They come in three sizes. Momma, Poppa, and Little Bear would be proud. As with the other Whittier Collection bowls, these have a hole in the handle. Makes it easier to carry around, which is key in a hectic catering environment. Great for condiments, snacks, fruits, salads and pretty much anything else you can imagine. They also come in Line and Ribbed textures so you can really zero in on the right look for you. But lets be honest, its all about the waves mon!

Top 3 Grilling Accessories

The best part about the summer, aside from it not snowing nonstop, is the food. Cold glasses of your grandmother’s best Sweet Tea, a scoop of Bourbon-Soaked Golden Raisin Ice Cream from Little Man’s, and most importantly, cook out food. The summer past-time of grilling is essential, and with Father’s Day and Independence Day right around the corner it’s only right that you step your grill game up.

So here are 3 grilling tools essential to help you become the grill master at your next cookout!

First up is the Weber Original Instant-Read Thermometer. Nobody likes biting into a chicken leg and seeing red. Kills an appetite faster than seeing Uncle Lenny in his beach speedo. Having a thermometer on deck to make sure your chicken is thoroughly cooked is the first, often over looked, step towards becoming a grill master.

You can’t command a grill properly without a good pair of tongs. Not the plastic cheap ones you toss salad with. We’re talking full stainless steel 16 inch tongs that can take the heat. Easy to clean, easier to use. Whether your flipping over burgers or lifting up searing hot grill lids, tongs are the Swiss Army Knives of Bar-B-Queuing and essential to your arsenal.

And lastly, a heavy duty stainless steel flat bottle opener. You know the struggle. Every year someone passes you an ice cold brew, and nobody has a bottle opener. You end up using your teeth, car keys, and kitchen counters to crack open a beer and it ends up becoming more of a hassle than it’s worth. There’s nothing flashy about this bottle opener and that’s precisely the point. It’s functional and large enough to give you some leverage to pop up a cold bottle easily in between checking on your steaks. 

Thankful

We just want to thank everyone that stopped by our booth in Chicago for the NRA show! We had an amazing turn out, met some fantastic people, and had a really great time showcasing all our new products. 20 years deep, and the view from 10 Strawberry Street is better than ever!

Post NRA Show is always a little tricky. A lot of preparation goes into making the show happen, so its only natural that afterwards most people feel a little burned out, and tend to check out for a couple of days. In a way, it marks the first day of Summer for us in the industry.

But no matter how many turkey burgers we fight over at Memorial Day Cookouts or how deep we bury our feet into the sands at the beach, work still has to get done.  Father’s Day and Independence Day are around the corner, and yes the Fall and Winter Holiday’s are a while away, but as the saying goes, early bird gets the worm.

We’re looking forward to finishing out the second half of the year stronger than ever, and we hope you guys join us for the journey. Exciting things await!

Zack Talks 10 Strawberry Street

As we grow and assert ourselves within the industry, we’re bound to meet new people along the ways. Some are already well aware of the work we’ve been doing and for some this is their first encounter with the Strawberry. And while we think we do a pretty awesome job at the booth, with all the distractions at a show like NRA, it can sometimes prevent us from giving a more intimate look at our DNA.

So who is 10 Strawberry Street?

Zachary, as you can imagine, tends to have the best grasp on this. “10 Strawberry St has been around since 1983, my dad turned the name into a recognized industry leader in the party rental, catering, and retail industries.  And we take pride in that. We’re thankful for the relationships that we've developed and new opportunities that continue to come our way.”

And as for the age-old question of the name, “That’s all my dad. The company really started out in Philly, 10 Strawberry Street was the address. The name stuck around when we came to Denver. And even though we have nothing but love for Denver, it’s nice to know there’s still some of that Philly spirit embedded in the company.”

There’s really no better person than Zach to describe, or even embody, what the company is all about. Like Double Z, we’ve got a little flare and edge to us, we’re constantly working and pushing to take things to the next level, and we’re not afraid to have a little fun along the way.
